The Teranga Lions of Senegal got off to a winning start in their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers with an away victory over the DR Congo in Lubumbashi.
The Senegalese won by 4 goals. The boys of Amara Traoré opened scores at the 5th minute through Moussa Sow before captain Mamadou Niang added the second eleven minutes after. Senegal added another before the DR Congo pulled one just before the break through Patou Kabangu. At half time the game was 3-1.
The visiotors added one more in the second segment to make it 4 – 2 the final score.In the other match of the group Cameroon travelled to the Mauritius Island to beat local side 3-1. Senegal and Cameroon now top the group. The second playing day of the qualifiers has been scheduled for the second weekend of the month of October. The D R Congo will travel to play Cameroon as Senegal will host the Mauritius Island.
