Setif score late to beat Mazembe 2-1 in Champions League semis

Striker Abdelmalek Ziaya scored a late winner as ES Setif bounced back to beat TP Mazembe 2-1 in their semi-final first leg on Saturday in Setif. The 30-year old Ziaya, who rejoined ‘Les Aigles Noirs’ few months ago netted the vital strike a minute from time to give his side a slim goal advantage ahead of the second leg next weekend in Lubumbashi.

TP Mazembe booked their place at the semis in grand style courtesy a 3-1 thrashing of Al Hilal of Sudan on Sunday in Lubumbashi. Rainford Kalaba, Solomon Asante and Malian Adama Traore scored a goal each to power ‘Les Corbeaux’ into the last four, and effectively dashing the hopes of the Omdurman-based club with a game to spare. Mazembe have 10 points whilst Hilal remain at the foot of the standings of Group A with four points.
