Mazembe, Esperance, Ahly advance in Champions League

Tresor Mbutu MabiReigning African club champions TP Mazembe are through to the third round of the African Champions League after 2-0 home win over APR of Rwanda. TP Mazembe had gone into the match with a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Kigali a fortnight ago. But striker Tresor Mputu Mabi was on form, scoring both goals for the hosts who played the match in the country's capital Kinshasa.

Tresor Mbutu MabiTresor Mputu, nicknamed the “Treasure of Congolese football” came out tops in the category dedicated to footballers playing on the continent judging by his performances for his club, T. P. Mazembe in the Orange CAF Champions League and the DR Congo national team during the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in Cote d’Ivoire in March 2009.
DR Congo Leopards win first African Nations Championship (CHAN)

Leopards win CHAN Democratic Republic of Congo shocked Ghana 2-0 to win the maiden African Nations Championship final. Dioko Kaluyituka put the Leopards ahead one minute into the second half at Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in the Ivory Coast economic capital and Mbenza Bedi added a second on 76 minutes. It was the first triumph for DR Congo in an African Football Confederation (CAF) national team competition since defeating Zambia 2-0 in a replay of the 1974 Nations Cup final in Cairo.
