Refugees to return to Equateur Province

Sixteen people died on Saturday in the western province of Equateur, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after a boat capsized on the River Congo in Lukolela Territory, about 200 km from the provincial capital of Mbandaka, a local official told IRIN.


IDPs in Equateur province begin returning home

High death rates in prisons due to malnutrition

More than 50 inmates died in prisons across the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during 2004 as a result of malnutrition, according to a report issued on Thursday by the justice system support unit of the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC, known as MONUC.
